The Becoming Project

Ask the Becoming Coach

Find words. Explore options. Practice your next step.

You can ask about confidence, feelings, friendships, family, school, money, being online or growing up. Share only what you feel comfortable sharing. Leave out names, contact details and other identifying information.

If someone is in danger now, call 911.

Live AI coaching is available to eligible adults. You can continue exploring our reviewed lessons, scenarios, and educational resources.

Not sure where to start?

You can keep it brief. You do not need to explain everything to ask for help.

The Becoming Project is not a crisis line. It cannot call anyone, see your location or monitor you.

How the Coach works

The Coach answers with guidance written and reviewed by people. It does not use AI to write answers for visitors.

  • Messages that sound urgent get emergency guidance right away.
  • Your question is matched to the closest reviewed guidance on our server. If nothing fits well, you get general guidance for the topic and ways to get support.
  • Sources link to the organizations the guidance is based on. Suggested wording is the Becoming Project’s, not the source’s.
What happens to my message
  • Your message is matched to reviewed guidance on our server. It is not sent to any AI model.
  • The Becoming Project does not save the text of your message or the answer. Clearing the conversation removes them from this page.
  • For 90 days the Becoming Project keeps a record without your words: the general topic, which kind of answer you got, how long it took, and any feedback button you press.
  • To limit use, a daily counter is kept under a scrambled version of your network address that changes every day. It is deleted the next day.
  • Preferences you set below are kept only in this browser.

If something is happening now

Call 911. Then tell a trusted adult. Stay with the person and follow the dispatcher’s instructions.

Something on this site worried you, or a lesson or answer seems wrong or unsafe? Report a concern. Leave out names and personal details. This is not an emergency line; if someone is in danger, call 911.
